Objectives of ITEF

The International Tamil Engineers Forum is a not-for-profit organisation that exists to inspire, connect, serve, educate, and build a global community of Tamil engineers — wherever in the world they live, study, or work.

What we set out to do

Our objectives translate that purpose into a concrete programme of work. Every chapter, every committee, and every initiative the Forum runs maps back to one of these.

  1. Build capability. Guide, counsel, and aid the capability-building of every member of the ITEF community — from students stepping into the profession to senior practitioners shaping the industry.
  2. Promote careers. Open up career opportunities and support career development through trainings, workshops, seminars, conferences, exhibitions, and symposia organised by the Forum and its chapters.
  3. Back start-ups and innovators. Incubate, mentor, motivate, and channel resources to engineers building new ventures, products, and services.
  4. Connect with education. Build active relationships with educational institutions run by Tamils — to share knowledge, lived industry experience, and career counselling with students.
  5. Open global markets. Help create a global market for the products and services of Tamil engineers, and connect members to opportunities beyond their home geography.
  6. Create jobs. Aid the creation of jobs and organise Job Fairs — connecting Tamil engineers to employers across the Forum's chapters and beyond.
  7. Build diplomatic channels. Establish working relationships with peer organisations, universities, local bodies, and government policy-makers to pursue our Vision, Mission, and Values together.
  8. Recognise excellence. Recognise and celebrate eminent personalities whose contributions to the engineering community, the Tamil language, and Tamil Nadu — through research, technology, social and political work — have shaped the path for others.
  9. Stay continually connected. Maintain an active connection with members through regular meetings, seminars, conferences, and periodic publications.

How these objectives are pursued

Each objective is pursued through the Forum's standing programmes — the chapter network, the Mentorship and Jobs Board modules, the Tenders Exchange, the annual conference rotation, technical sessions, the Tamil Engineering Hall of Fame, and the Forum's editorial publications. Members can participate at whatever depth suits them — from attending events as a guest, to volunteering on a committee, to standing for office.
